The Mission of Rûna-Raven

The Mission of Rûna-Raven

XXX

(September 2003)

The mission of Rûna-Raven goes beyond mere "book-selling"—the purpose of Rûna-Raven is transformative. Transformation occurs when knowledge is put into action. But for the changes to be strong and true, the knowledge must be accurate. Therefore, we constantly attempt to bring increasing amounts of the highest quality scholarship — exoteric and esoteric - to you.

Rûna-Raven's objective is to provide a knowledgeable reading public with the best material and most reliable service in a variety of "cutting edge" fields- with a concentration in the area of Germanic lore and magic.

The publishing industry, especially that involved in esoteric fields, is presently suffering from a serious malady. It seems that most of what is published is a rehashing of that which has been done before. Seldom are new ideas explored, and seldom is the knowledge base of the reader expanded beyond what has already been established. Often it seems that authors are far less knowledgeable on the subject they are writing about than many of their readers. One of our major interests is to be able to provide more works of scholarly importance and quality to a wider reading public. We anticipate that this will be an expanding aspect of our efforts.

Rûna-Raven’s mission is to publish deeper level works in the Germanic tradition that larger and more commercial houses will not print. The larger publishers believe that they have saturated the "market’ with their present level and type of production - but if the tradition is to be deepened and developed beyond that superficial level, a deeper level of literature must be produced. Also, we seek to publish works that are on the leading or cutting edge of thought in various areas of literature and esoterica. These tend to be works that would probably otherwise go unpublished.

Please note that books published by Rûna-Raven are classified into three categories: The first are those books which we try to distribute as widely as possible. These may show up in your local bookstores with some regularity. The second group includes those sold only to certain "cutting edge" bookstores. While the third group are those which are not available in bookstores, but which are exclusively available by mail from Rûna-Raven . Books from all three categories are, of course, always available from Rûna-Raven directly.
